Stockholm School of Economics and Sciences Po launch a new Graduate program in Economics, Business and Management
The School of Management and Innovation (SMI) at Sciences Po and the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) come together to create a Dual Master's degree program in Economics, Business and Management.
This program is a first step toward a deeper and wider collaboration between the two schools: a second Dual Master’s degree program with a focus on innovation, media and creative industries will be launched in 2019.
The Double Degree program in Economics, Business and Management consists of two full academic years. Students spend the first year at SMI at Sciences Po and the second year at SSE. In each institution, students fulfill the requirements of the school and program they are attending that year, at the same standard as regularly enrolled students. This specific 2-year framework is based on mutual recognition of existing curricula at each school, with a specific focus on management of innovation, change, business development and entrepreneurship.
The combined strengths of the two institutions - Sciences Po as a leading Social Science University and Stockholm School of Economics as one of Europe's leading business schools - ensure well-rounded and complementary training and give students the international experience and perspective to prepare them for successful careers in consulting, management or entrepreneurship.
For Marie-Laure Djelic, co-dean of the School of Management and Innovation: “The School of Management and Innovation at Sciences Po signs a double degree agreement with Stockholm School of Economics, the best Swedish Management School and one of the European leaders. With this double degree agreement, the new School of Management and Innovation, which already has double degree agreements with Saint Gallen, Bocconi, FGV Sao Paulo, Fudan and University of Pennsylvania affirms its international ambitions and positions itself as one of the key French actors of management education.”
For Magnus Mähring, Professor of Business Administration, in charge of strategic internationalization initiatives at SSE: “SSE is delighted to take this new, important step in our highly fruitful collaboration with Sciences Po. Our schools share important values about nurturing responsible leaders who contribute to business innovation as well as to society. Our new offering does this with a strong focus on business creation and renewal; the students of this program will have the unique chance of connecting with two vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystems in Paris and in Stockholm."
The two-year program will accept qualified applicants from around the world starting in the Fall of 2018. An estimated maximum of 15 students is expected to be admitted and enrolled per academic year. Applications will start in October 2017 and close in mid-February, 2018.
This agreement deepens the long-lasting partnership between the two institutions. A transdisciplinary dual degree program has been signed between the Stockholm School of Economics and the Paris School of International Affairs of Sciences Po (PSIA). SSE and Sciences Po have been Erasmus+ partners for many years, while several faculty collaborations also have long standing ties.
